Officials of US-based Milacron Holdings said the company has brought workers at its Ferromatik Milacron injection moulding machinery factory back to full time work weeks — two months ahead of schedule.
The company repealed the shortened workweek schedules on 31 October. It had been scheduled to run through the end of the year, officials said.
Milacron’s management restructured the workforce in Malterdingen in December 2014. The cost-saving measure was done to match the factory output with business conditions, Denis Poelman, managing director of Milacron Injection Molding Europe, said in a Plastics News story from the Fakuma trade show in mid-October. Poelman said the Malterdingen operation has struggled for more than 10 years, but he said in the story that the German plant passed the break-even mark in May this year, and was looking to make a profit.
In a statement in Milacron’s 10 December news release announcing the work schedule news, Poelman said: “The measures introduced allowed us the ability to act and better align with changing market dynamics. Our new sales organization continues to further penetrate existing markets by partnering and collaborating with major international, regional and local customers, and our operational realignment has provided us the flexibility to service and respond more efficiently to those same customers.”
